Since plastic does not dissolve and it is difficult to recycle, this destroys our ecosystem in the long run. Plastic eventually breaks down into a thousand tiny particles and is reabsorbed by us through our food. In addition, there are about 150 million tons of plastic waste floating in our oceans. That's why it's important to find an alternative to plastic spoons in the take-away and delivery business.
We at Duni have therefore set ourselves the goal of producing high quality and sustainable products. We want to constantly develop our products and find new raw materials for you that protect our environment and are practical to use at the same time. To this end, we are in constant dialogue with manufacturers and developers to evaluate products and think ahead.
In the case of our cutlery range, this means switching to a different type of paper: from brown to white. Because in the course of the innovation process, it became apparent that a white paper grade has far better production properties, which ultimately also improves the quality of the end product. For these reasons, our ice cream cups are also not made of plastic, but of FSC™-certified paper with a vegetable PLA bioplastic coating.
Plastic free ice cream spoon with pleasant eating experience
To get away from conventional plastic cutlery in ice cream parlors and take-away stores, there are now numerous spoons made of plastic-free materials - for example, wood. However, the mouthfeel and taste of wooden spoons is often criticized. For this reason, we have set about developing a true alternative - the Pluma spoon.
The name of the Pluma range is derived from the Latin word for "feather" - our alternative to the plastic spoon is just as feather-light and supple. The spoon is not only food safe, but also tasteless. Thanks to the heat-resistant material, the plastic-free spoon is suitable for cold dishes and hot dishes up to 70 °C. Particularly noteworthy is the smooth surface of the spoon, which provides a pleasant mouthfeel when eating. Especially for people who do not like the texture and mouthfeel of wooden spoons, the Pluma spoon is thus a great alternative.
The plastic-free spoon is made of 96 percent paper fiber and four percent water-based adhesive. The packaging is made of white paper with bio-based coating (BioPE and PLA). In addition, the unique cutlery series bears the FSC™ certificate: the raw materials therefore come from forests managed in an environmentally friendly, socially responsible and responsible manner. The packaging is OK compost INDUSTRIAL certified.
Plastic free cups for sweet ice cream enjoyment
To ensure an all-around sustainable dining experience, we offer an equally sustainable ice cream sundae in addition to the plastic-free ice cream spoon. Avoiding plastic when transporting and storing food is important because many plastic containers contain plasticizers such as bispehnol A (BPA), which are released over time. Even in tiny amounts, BPA interferes with our hormonal balance and can have a negative impact on health.
Instead of plastic, we therefore rely on renewable raw materials with a plant-based PLA bioplastic coating. The coating makes the ice cream cups resistant to water and grease - they therefore do not soften during transport.
For our plastic-free ice cream cups, we only use materials that are FSC™ certified. This means that the raw materials all come from forests with social, ecological and economic benefits. The ice cream cups are compostable and recyclable.
Possible uses of the coated ice cream spoons
It is hard to imagine the take-away and delivery business without disposable cutlery. It is practical, convenient and hygienic. The spoon is even the oldest eating utensil. Its shape is based on the hand that scoops food.
Spoons are true all-rounders in the catering trade: they can be used not only for serving ice cream scoops, but also for eating other dishes such as soups or pasta dishes. Spoons are also suitable for selling mueslis, yogurts with fruit, pieces of cake and also for stirring milk into coffee to go.
