A landmark of Bremen's industrial past: the imposing Kellogg's silo, where cereals were stored for decades, characterised the cityscape with its striking silhouette and the Kellogg's lettering on the roof. Today, the approximately 40 metre high building tells a completely new story. On the former Kellogg's site, which is being transformed into Überseeinsel, the historic silo has been sensitively converted into an extraordinary hotel.
After extensive renovation work, the John & Will Silo Hotel opened its doors in August 2024. Around 120 stylishly furnished rooms were created in the imposing silos, many of them with an impressive view of the Weser. Transforming the industrial building into a modern hotel required a great deal of precision: over 4,000 metres of concrete cuts and the removal of 3,500 cubic metres of concrete made way for a feel-good oasis that combines historical charm with contemporary comfort.
The Danish Guldsmeden Group, known for its sustainable boutique hotels in cities such as Berlin and Oslo, is behind the innovative concept. It remains true to its trademark in Bremen too: the John & Will Hotel combines historical structures with environmentally friendly approaches, thereby setting an example for a future-orientated hotel culture.
With its successful blend of tradition and modernity, the John & Will Silo Hotel has not only redefined the face of the overseas island, but has also brought a piece of Bremen's history into the future.

As soon as guests enter the hotel, they are greeted by the Bremen Town Musicians - a charming prelude that brings the connection to the city and its culture to life. The reception area, a stylish mixture of bar and reception, called ‘Barception’, creates a relaxed atmosphere that allows guests to arrive and enjoy themselves in equal measure. Guests not only check in here, but can also feel immediately welcome with a drink.

On the way to the rooms, lovingly designed Low German details that playfully pick up on the regional culture catch the eye. The rooms themselves, affectionately called ‘Stuuv’, are true retreats for every requirement. With a harmonious combination of natural materials, elegant black accents and industrial design elements, they radiate cosiness and timeless elegance.

The corridors on the ten floors invite you to marvel and discover: Bremen artist Johann Büsen has created colourful, enigmatic works of art that interweave themes such as politics, nature, literature, film, science and everyday culture. His graphic works transport you into imaginative visual worlds that reveal new details every time you look at them.

In addition to the stylish rooms, the hotel offers a modern fitness centre and flexible meeting rooms that are ideal for conferences, private parties or special events. A place that combines northern German warmth with urban chic and comfort.

Right next to the Silo Hotel, guests can enjoy the Vitaminlager - a culinary highlight that delights connoisseurs at any time of day. Just one door away, a varied breakfast with fresh, regional and homemade specialities awaits in the morning. Here, 80% of the dishes are vegan or vegetarian - so there is something for every taste, from vegan delicacies and freshly baked bread rolls to cheese and cold cuts from species-appropriate animal husbandry - an ideal start to the day.
And the culinary offering doesn't end at breakfast: the vitamin store also offers a wide selection for lunch or a relaxed dinner. Fresh ingredients, carefully prepared, take centre stage here.
